Mr. Lucky

A website with the character of the Orchestra of Tomorrow.

Chicago, Illinois

Live website
Mr. Lucky homepage with oversized poster typography and a real orchestra performance photograph

The project

Mr. Lucky and His Orchestra of Tomorrow bring jazz, Latin rhythms, swing, and vintage pop to live events. The website turns that personality into a single-page introduction for hosts, planners, and venues deciding who to book.

Give event planners a feel for the orchestra's sound and atmosphere, build confidence through real performances and background, and guide them to the existing GigSalad inquiry form.

What I worked on
  • Band website design
  • Performance media presentation
  • Visual identity translation
  • GigSalad booking path

Inside the website

Mr. Lucky listening section with overlapping performance photos and a video preview

Let planners hear what they are booking.

The listening section pairs performance photography with a video preview that plays when a visitor chooses it. Jazz, Latin, soul, classics, and vintage pop introduce the musical range.

The design can establish an atmosphere, but the live performance makes it concrete. Putting the media early in the page gives a planner something useful to listen to before reading the longer background.

Mr. Lucky orchestra story with repertoire information, venue names, and the horn section performing

A story grounded in the musicians.

The orchestra section describes the repertoire alongside a real horn-section photograph. Venue names and a direct link to the Joliet Federation of Musicians support the introduction with specific background.

The poster style gives the page character; the content explains the people and music behind it. Keeping those details specific lets the visual direction feel expressive without making the band harder to understand.

Mr. Lucky event section listing suitable occasions and a Plan your event booking action

Help someone picture their own event.

Weddings, private celebrations, corporate events, venues, and festivals share one event section and one planning action. The button leads directly to the band's GigSalad contact page.

The site introduces the live experience, then hands the inquiry to the booking channel the orchestra already uses. A consistent destination makes the path straightforward wherever someone is ready to ask.

Design decisions

  • A poster with personality

Translated the orchestra's vintage cocktail-pop character into cream, deep teal, warm orange, expressive type, and Space Age details.

  • Hear the live experience

Paired real onstage photographs with a visitor-controlled performance video.

  • Meet the orchestra

Connected the repertoire, orchestra story, venues, and attributed client feedback in one page.

  • One booking destination

Kept booking actions consistent across the introduction, event section, and final call to action, all leading to GigSalad.

The same personality, in your hand.

Connected the repertoire, orchestra story, venues, and attributed client feedback in one page.
